Remote: Yes. EU hours; US-East mornings work. On-site in northern Germany.
Willing to relocate: No
Technologies: C++, Python, PyTorch/TensorFlow, CUDA/SIMD; computer vision (retrieval at scale, inspection, SfM/SLAM); German speech recognition on-prem; real-time audio and kernel drivers; embedded/edge inference; RL environments (PPO, verifiable rewards); the boring enterprise plumbing around all of it

I'm the fractional ImageRights CTO, looking for a 2nd startup that needs hands-on tech, scale, or AI help.
I have 18 years of experience across 5 companies in taking products from idea to paying customers. I've built ImageRights' web search and image-retrieval database (C++, in service since 2015, finds copyright infringements worldwide), DeutscheKI (100% private German AI and local ASR), and before that the Spatial Audio Designer, used in Hollywood. And a German image distribution start-up.
I have experience with AI research, adaptation, and training. I've built AI RLVR training tasks in the past. Won the 2021 Bomberland mid-season with PPO. I'm also open to northern German on-prem CV/ASR work in case you cannot ship data to any cloud.
Side interests: I built a Pump It Up pad with custom self-developed and self-manufactured sensors. Currently doing CAD design and policy training (with PPO) for a robot.
Recently I've been debugging MSFS2024 inside Proton: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/8255#issuecom...
Remote: Yes; also open to Berlin-based roles
Willing to relocate: No; happy to travel
Technologies: Ruby/Rails, PostgreSQL, GraphQL, Elasticsearch, LLMs, AI coding

Technical co-founder and former CTO with around 15 years in startups, spanning engineering and product. Most recently spent six years building Recital, an AI product for corporate legal teams, staying hands-on in the code while leading engineering.
Looking for senior IC roles in AI products/infrastructure or agentic engineering/developer experience. Particularly interested in making AI useful and reliable in production, and improving how teams build with coding agents. Also open to bounded consulting engagements.
Remote: Open to in-office, hybrid, or remote
Willing to relocate: Yes, preferably within the USA
Technologies: TypeScript, JavaScript, React, Python, C++, PostgreSQL, Linux/UNIX, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot

Full stack software engineer with ~3 years of experience. Currently building a ray tracer in C++ (https://github.com/abumsoo/ray-tracing). I'd be excited to work on graphics, rendering, or performance-sensitive systems, including graphics on the web with WebGL or WebGPU, but I'm also happy to keep doing full stack work on a product I care about.
Most recently I built a social media app designed to make people slow down: users get one post or interaction per day, and posts drop off the global feed after 3 days.
Consultant Backend Software Engineer at Thoughtworks. I specialize in
high-throughput distributed systems, API gateways, database performance
tuning (PostgreSQL MVCC/query plans), and concurrency-safe
architectures across Go, JVM, and Python stacks.
Recent work:
- Built Gatekeeper, a high-performance reverse proxy and API gateway
in Go with atomic Redis Lua sliding-window rate limiting (benchmarked
at 4.7M ops/sec).
- Engineered resilient financial data pipelines and microservices in
Java/Python, eliminating double-settlement bugs under concurrent load
via PostgreSQL transaction isolation and Redis idempotency keys.
- Architected SetuAI, a local civil engineering calculation engine
with deterministic domain rules and CAD generation.
- Experienced in AI-assisted development workflows (Spec-Driven
Development, schema invariants, and automated test-driven verification).
Looking for Senior Backend / Systems / Product Engineering roles with
remote-first or globally distributed teams.Read the full thread on Hacker News →
