When you're making a fortune selling AI, it's hard to know just how to manipulate public opinion so that people are scared enough to give you money, but not so scared that they try to regulate you

Nvidia benefits the most from rapid acceleration by all labs. A unilateral slow down for safety and better alignment arguably hurts them the most.
