Rather than playing "copy Apple" how about fixing the memory leaks?

Is it so hard to copy how Chrome does bookmarks?

I sure wish they did.

What does chrome do with bookmark that firefox doesn't? I've felt like firefox's bookmark manager is relatively powerful with folders, tags, and visual separators (though it feels a bit dated at this point, I think I prefer dated and fast vs modern and slow).

In no particular order:

- get rid of the suggested, stories, news feeds, widgets

- fix the update schedule so it doesn't brick randomly during the day until I restart it

- get rid of accounts, ship a password manager extension by default if people can't be bothered to use one (I know accounts are here to stay, just make them... less)

- When I download a browser I don't want 20 forced popups/check boxes asking me to import this, import that, sign in, improve my experience, make default, get rid of all of it

I use user.js to disable the suggestions, but this doesn't help on initial install and running of Firefox. It's among a over a hundred or so options user.js sets (and reset every startup) that I use to maintain my Firefox.

user_pref("browser.urlbar.suggest.engines", false);

user_pref("browser.urlbar.suggest.importantDates", false);

user_pref("browser.urlbar.suggest.mdn", false);

user_pref("browser.urlbar.suggest.quicksuggest", false);

user_pref("browser.urlbar.suggest.quicksuggest.nonsponsored", false);

user_pref("browser.urlbar.suggest.quicksuggest.sponsored", false);

user_pref("browser.urlbar.suggest.recentsearches", false);

user_pref("browser.urlbar.suggest.searches", false);

user_pref("browser.urlbar.suggest.sports", false);

user_pref("browser.urlbar.suggest.topsites", false);

user_pref("browser.urlbar.suggest.trending", false);

user_pref("browser.urlbar.suggest.weather", false);

user_pref("browser.urlbar.suggest.yelp", false);

user_pref("browser.urlbar.suggest.yelpRealtime", false);

Updates: there is a policies.js option that allows one to take control of updates.

"DisableAppUpdate": true,

On Linux, placed into /usr/lib/firefox/distribution/policies.json

- get rid of the suggested, stories, news feeds, widgets

So only get funding from the search deals? Also a lot of users love widgets.

- fix the update schedule so it doesn't brick randomly during the day until I restart it

Agree on this one

- get rid of accounts, ship a password manager extension by default if people can't be bothered to use one (I know accounts are here to stay, just make them... less)

There is a built in password manager without the need of accounts, I agree that accounts are pushed a little bit too much.

- When I download a browser I don't want 20 forced popups/check boxes asking me to import this, import that, sign in, improve my experience, make default, get rid of all of it

Because you know what you are doing. This doesn't apply to 98% of tech illiterate users, who won't know how to access the settings to import/change stuff later.

facts.

I'm using it now... Round tabs are dumb, a silly distracting unhelpful change. But I really like compact mode, gives me less browser and more website on my laptop.
