A sticker over 15% of a QR code is fine. Erasing 0.7% of it kills the code.

Everyone repeats that QR codes survive 30% damage. I measured it: a solid patch over 15% still scanned 99 times in 100, scattered speckle killed every level by 5%, and half a timing row - 0.7% of the modules - was fatal.
